In 2013, Metronet (UK) were recommended to Barburrito by their IT support provider and provided them with reliable connectivity to all their sites across the UK. This included ADSL connections to their stores throughout England, Scotland and Wales and their support office in Manchester, as well as wireless connectivity to their two sites within intu Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester.

Background

Established in 2005, Barburrito was the first burrito bar created in the UK and millions of burritos later the passion is still going strong with the latest restaurant opening in Aberdeen, Union Square, late last year. The business now has over 20 restaurants throughout the UK with plans to open up to five sites each year for the foreseeable future.

Barburrito has perfected the art of burrito making – inspired by the street food in Mexico, they don’t just create quick snacks at Barburrito, they create a tasty meal in a wrap, an art which has been perfected over the past decade and passed down through their family.

The Challenge

Barburrito rely on their IT infrastructure to operate their till systems, credit card payments including secure processing, stock control portal, payroll software, staff training, music systems and site security amongst others. These are integral elements which keep the 20 plus restaurants running each and every day.

Tony Booker, Property & Project Coordinator has been working at Barburrito for the past six years and explains why they needed to upgrade their infrastructure, “Connectivity is vital to keep our business running, we had previously been dealing with multiple ISP’s at different sites, with varying connection speeds and reliability issues. This also meant we had different points of contact to sort the issues out, taking valuable time away from other aspects of the business.”

“We needed one provider who could connect all our sites and offer consistent connectivity and more reliability for us to work with. It’s a huge impact on our business if the infrastructure fails, over 60% of our sales are through card payments and we are constantly placing supplier orders and reconciling stock we needed a provider who could support this.”

The Solution

In 2013, Metronet (UK) were recommended to Barburrito by their IT support provider and provided them with reliable connectivity to all their sites across the UK. This included ADSL connections to their stores throughout England, Scotland and Wales and their support office in Manchester, as well as wireless connectivity to their two sites within intu Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester.

An ADSL line provides Barburrito with a tailored solution, they can choose their own bandwidth options at a cost that suits them, and due to the nature of the technology, services can be delivered rapidly so that when Barburrito open a new restaurant they can be up and running quickly and efficiently.

The Benefits

Tony continued, “Business is much easier now we have only one connectivity provider for all our sites, there is only one point of call should we have any issues and the support Metronet (UK) provide is exactly what we need. There is a quick turnaround on queries and issues and also when it comes to implementing new sites into the network.”

“We have big growth plans for Barburrito and plan on opening 3-5 restaurants each year throughout the UK, it is reassuring to know that we have Metronet (UK) to work with along the way and know that where ever our sites are we can have reliable connectivity to keep us going.”
